REVIEW NOTES
Cigar Observations:
The first thing that you will notice on this cigar is that the head sports a pig tail. The wrapper is dark brown, oily and has a couple medium veins with lots of small veins. The seam is visible and the cap looks to be nicely formed, even though the pigtail is kind of sloppy. I do like the band on this one with the red and black and the words Alec Bradley Family Blend Para Nuestra Familia, which means For Our Family. This cigar is a little soft to the touch.
Pre-light:
The foot gives off the aroma of strong chicken coup with sweet hay. I clipped the head with my Palio cutter. The pre-light draw has a little bit of resistance. I toasted the foot with my Xikar Genesis torch.
First Half:
Flavor starts with cedar wood, roasted nuts and a creamy syrupy sweetness. The retrohale is very smooth with charred aromatic cedar. I really do enjoy the flavor that comes through the retrohale. The finish is long and creamy. The body is medium and the flavor is full. The draw has just a little bit of resistance and really is a pleasure to smoke. One or two light draws gives off plenty of smoke. The burn is a little bit wavy but is going without any real trouble. The ash is light grey and holds on for about an inch.
Second Half:
The cedar flavor is getting stronger in the second half. There is a very aromatic and roasted nuts that really does complete this smoke. Very smooth and creamy. The draw and the burn is still going without any problems.
Closing:
Overall I would say that this really is a tasty cigar. While the flavor stays pretty much the same from beginning to end there is a complexity to the base flavors. Cedar, nuts, cream and a syrupy sweetness. Construction was excellent and a pleasure to smoke. This stogie is worth going for a box purchase.
